Huckleberry Cobbler 2 lg T. lard
2 c Flour, sifted
1/4 ts Baking powder, sifted
1/2 ts Salt
1/3 c Water
2 tb Flour
2/3 c Sugar
Huckleberries
Butter
Cream lard, 2 c. flour, baking powder, salt; add the 1/3 c. of water to make a soft dough. Roll and cover the bottom of a bread pan with part of the dough and sift the 2 T. of flour and 2/3 c. of sugar together over the bottom crust. Place washed berries over this until pan iis as full as you want it; add a bit of butter and cover with a perforated crust. The perforations should be large enough to let the juice rise up.
