Berry Dumpling

1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. shortening
1 egg, beaten
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
8 sugar substitutes
1 qt. berries

Mix and sift dry ingredients; cut in shortening; add beaten egg and milk. Mash berries thoroughly; mix well with sugar and vanilla. Combine the two mixtures until blended. Pour into a 30 inch square of cheese cloth (floured cloth) tie securely and place in large pot of boiling water; boil for 2 hours and serve. NOTE: The dumpling will be semi-soft, not stiff.
